Greetings from Oslo!
Boy these Norwegian keyboards are weeeiiiird. Please excuse any random characters like: Æ Ø or Å They're right where the apostrophe key is supposed to go. Plus, I'm a bit tired after a rather bumpy 4 hour train ride.
I've been spending the past few days with my good friends Charles and Mirjam in Kristiansand, Norway. They have the cutest little boys, and we had a great time playing in the park and shopping downtown. I just wish I could have stayed longer! From what I've seen, Norway is a gorgeous place! I'll definitely be back. Those of you at Grey Road who told me to tell them hi for you can do it yourself! They'll be in town after tomorrow.
Feels like a long time since I left Derry at 6am to catch the bus to Belfast and then the plane to Glasgow. Glasgow is a great city. Beautiful architecture, lots of sites and museums, brand name shopping... it was a trial to stay out of the Ralph Lauren store, but I DON'T have any spare money for random shopping sprees! I spent the afternoon touring the city and then hit the bed early to catch my train to the airport for my Oslo flight. I say Oslo flight, but really the airport is about an hour and a half away from Oslo, and I didn't have much time before my train, so I caught a taxi to the Larvik train station. I had a great taxi driver. He spoke perfect English with a ghetto American accent. Then I found out he could mimic British, Scottish, German, and Indian accents. He could also juggle while driving and had balloon animals on the dashboard. Needless to say, it was an interesting (and expensive!) ride to the station. Things are very expensive here, and the currency is a bit hard to keep track of. Just as an example, my taxi ride cost 330 kroner which is about 55 dollars. I'm used to the easy conversion between the dollar and pound. We just double everything to be on the safe side. Anyway, enough about money. After 3 more train changes, I arrived in Kristiansand.
This has to be short since my 20 kroner is running out, and I'm sorry to say I have no pictures. I won't get to load them til I get back to Ireland.
Take care, wherever you are!
